Dancers may arrive as early as 6:00 PM to warm up and should be ready to begin promptly at 6:15 PM.

Level: Intermediate/Advanced (Adventurous beginners welcome!)

Join Natalie Nayun for a fun and accessible series exploring Central Asian dance technique series. This class is designed for dancers of multiple levels, with layered options offered so both intermediate and more advanced dancers can deepen their practice while adventurous beginners are welcome to participate.

Each class begins with a center floor warm-up, followed by across the floor technique training relevant across several Central Asian dance traditions.

Throughout the series, dancers will learn combinations in different Central Asian dance regional styles (Tanovar, Bukharan, Pamiri, and maybe more) , exploring the musicality, expression, and distinctive movement qualities of these each of the regions dance traditions.

Bio:⁠
Natalie has been dancing for more than 18 years, and has devoted her life to the study of dance from Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Iran, & Uzbekistan. She has received grants & awards to study dance and conduct dance research in Uzbekistan & Tajikistan. Natalie is the Assistant Artistic Director of Ballet Afsaneh, Program director & teacher in the Afsaneh Dance Academy, and choreographer for Sorayya Dance Company out of UC Berkeley. Her hope is to share the beauty in these regions of the world through dance! ⁠
