Fun for the whole family!! Afsaneh Art & Culture Society - Ballet Afsaneh presents a concert of Dance, Music & Poetry from Central Asia and the Silk Road.
Bay Area dance and musical guests unite to celebrate the rich cultural traditions of the Silk Road in an evening concert, as well as not-to-miss pre-performance fun from 3:00pm with folk dancing, cultural exhibits and the Silk Road Bazaar with traditional clothing, art, and light refreshments. A spectacular Chinese dragon will make a grand appearance during the evening concert to honor the Chinese Year of the Dragon. In a joyful convergence of ancient and influential cultures, the Festival of the Silk Road brings together an inspired roster of dance and musical artists including Ballet Afsaneh, Anuradha Nag - Tarangini School of Kathak Dance, Yore Turkish Folkdance Ensemble, the award-winning Chinese Performing Arts of America, and Niosha Dance Academy. Esteemed musical guests include: the Zaryab Persian Music Ensemble with Neema Hekmat, Moses Sedler and Master Persian Percussionist Pezhham Akhavass, Turkish Black SeaMusic group with Aycan Yeter on tulum bagpipes, Da! Mozem - Balkan Folk Music.... and many more!

San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival - Ballet Afsaneh performs Roya - the Dream

Ballet Afsaneh represents the diversity of Persian dance in both the folkloric, celebratory Qashqa'i and an iconic Nouveau Classical dance, that creates an imaginary world filled with magical creatures. The accompanying live music by Zaryab Ensemble is just as diverse, featuring the sorna, a double-reed woodwind; the dahol, a large bass drum; and the santur, a 72-stringed hammered dulcimer.
Also appearing on the same program will be Gamelan Sekar Jaya - Balinese orchestra and dance, Kiyonomoto Ryu USA Classical Japanese dance, Jenny Fong - Chinese soloist, audience members will be invited to get up and dance during special participatory segments in the program.

Afsaneh Art & Culture Society - Ballet Afsaneh presents an unprecedented alliance of international artists promoting peace and environmental consciousness with breathtaking music and dance performances. The concertat Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts intimate Second Stage Theater features the collaborative work of Neema Hekmat, Moses Sedler, Pourya Khademi, vocalists Salar Khoshfahm and Sonja Drakulich, percussionist Ali Bazyar, poetry recitation - Adeleh Moghaddam, and theaterical narratives by Iman Oskoorouchi and Hamed Rastegarpour.
