Community Arts Programs

Afsaneh Art & Culture Society sponsors several programs offering classes and family performances in the San Francisco Bay Area for children and adults featuring traditional dance, music, language and visual arts. These programs nurture young students and artists, assisting in the transfer of cultural heritage between the generations. Helping to ensure the continuance of Central Asian traditional expressive arts as they take root in the diverse and dynamic setting of the Bay Area.

*Persian & Central Asian Dance* Introduction to Persian Classical, Contemporary & Folk, Tajiki, Azeri & Afghani dance styles. Technique based class focusing on hand and arm work, short phrases in various styles, the art of turning, and creative dance interpretations of Sufi poetry. Wednesdays 6:30-8:00 Persian Classical & Contemporary Workshop Adult Intermediate/Advanced Level @ 8th Street Studio, 2547 8th St. Berkeley CA Technique and full choreography. DanceVersity - World Dance for Youth

Danceversity is an exciting multicultural dance education program boasting an innovative, integrated curriculum of dance,music, folk arts, costuming, and cultural studies; providing the youth with a positive experience of different cultures at a formative age. Danceversity students are artists and researchers in their own right; strengthening their bodies, learning about themselves and others, and broadening their understanding of dance, music, and culture.
