Rosa Rojas

Rosa Rojas began her dance, vocal and musical training in 1997, which includes intense training in traditional Afghan, Persian, Tajik, Turkish, Central and South American forms. In 2000, Rosa joined Ballet Afsaneh and is currently one of the principle dancers and soloist of Ballet Afsaneh. Rosa’s talent and unique style has allowed her to perform abroad at "Padida Dance Theater" in Dushanbe Tajikistan, at "Art and Music Festival" in Lahore, Pakistan and she has been featured in various Afghan music videos with artists such as Eshan Aman, and Khalid Omar.

Rosa also has had the opportunity to perform and tour with various Persian singers such as Moein, which has developed anenthusiastic following in afghan and Persian communities. In 2006, Rosa traveled to Tajikistan where she worked with BAACS's “Tajik Dance Initiative” residency program and had the opportunity to learn and perform with master dancers and performers of Tajikestan. Rosa also has had the privilege of apprenticing under Sharlyn Sawyer, Director of BAACS, Katarina Burda, Founder of the Middle Eastern dance company "Aywah!", and master musicians such as Ostad Mohammad Nejad and Aziz Harawi.

Rosa is currently one of Ballet Afsaneh dance instructors, teaching various dance forms from Central Asia and Classical Persian. When not dancing, Rosa strengthens and practices her musical and vocal performance by working closely with her master, Ostad Nejad. Rosa’s artistic view and her passion about dance allows her to bring in a blending of culture into the community and she works hard and volunteers her time in helping and educating multicultural dance to her students and to the members of the community.
