Parousha Zand

Parousha Zand is a San Franciscan-Iranian Registered Nurse and Dancer. She has been performing with Ballet Afsaneh since 2005. Having trained initially in Ballet, she pursued Modern Dance at University of California, San Diego with Jean Isaacs. After returning to the Bay Area, she fell in love with Ethnic dance, training in West African and Afro-Cuban. She danced with Arenas Dance Company from 2003–2005, under the direction of Susana Arenas Pedroso. Her first Persian dance teacher was her mother, whom she mirrored at Persian social gatherings since childhood. She is honored to be part of a group that shares the beauty of her culture with audiences as well as teaching children who grew up here their proud heritage.
